About Mr. Alan Knowles

After training to become a building Architect, Alan Knowles eventually returned to his first passion, software and network engineering. Alan was an early Linux adopter, he is first major use was setting up an email server, writing ccMail smtp gateway in 1995.

From 1999 to 2001 he was technical director for a Hong Kong Linux consultancy company. He is now an active freelance consultant, having completed work for companies in Hong Kong and Abroad. He is a regular speaker at PHP conferences, in Germany and the US.

Alan like most people who have had a email address for a long period of time, got sick of Spam a long time ago. He has been on a personal war, fighting spam with opensource tools, and installing spam reduced mail servers for offices in Hong Kong.
